Reinertsen New Energy joins The Norwegian Forum for Marine Minerals (NMM)

We are proud to announce that Reinertsen New Energy are joining as a member of the Norwegian Forum for Marine Minerals (NMM).

NMM plays a vital role in shaping Norway’s approach to marine minerals. The global need for minerals is growing rapidly. The energy transition depends on access to critical resources for batteries, wind, solar, hydrogen and electric infrastructure.

Land-based mining and recycling will only cover part of this demand. Marine mineral deposits – including sulphides rich in copper, zinc, and gold, as well as manganese crusts containing cobalt, nickel, and rare earth elements – may become a crucial part of the solution.

Norway is uniquely positioned to lead this development, combining world-class offshore expertise from oil and gas. With ongoing governmental processes to assess the environmental, technological, and financial aspects of extraction, we are standing at the threshold of what may become a new resource industry for Norway.

For Reinertsen New Energy, this is also another example of how our subsea engineering excellence – developed over decades – is directly transferable to new and sustainable market verticals.

We look forward to contributing to NMM’s important work and to help shape the future of marine minerals in Norway and beyond.
